July Lunch and Learn!

Wednesday July 30th, 1100 - 1400

We’re excited to bring together two vital parts of the aviation ecosystem — flight planning professionals from Flight Pro International and local air traffic controllers from Minneapolis approach and control tower — for an engaging and informative session.

Grab lunch, settle in, and get ready for an insightful discussion that bridges the gap between initial planning and trip execution in the skies.

Whether you are working in scheduling, flight operations, piloting, or dispatch, this event is a unique opportunity to ask questions, learn from one another, and explore ways we can collaborate more effectively.

  • Dianne Tarantino and Matt Pahl with Flight Pro International will teach you how to avoid common flight planning pitfalls like:

❗Permit or Overflight Violations:

❗Customs and Immigration Non-Compliance

❗Fuel and Weather Miscalculations:

  • Ever had a question about ATC that you can’t ask on the radio? Our controllers will be happy to answer your questions. In attendance will be James Ipsen- Minneapolis approach manager and Brian Schild- Minneapolis control tower manager.

They are prepared to answer questions such as:

✈️How ATC can assist in an emergency, and airport considerations

️ The criteria that leads to a tower suspending departures and arrivals due to weather.

️An overview of how TRACON and the tower collaborate for efficient operations.

️Any specific advice for instructors conducting practice instrument approaches at reliever airports.

The pros and cons of canceling IFR flight plans and continuing VFR into an airport.

Optimal times and considerations for flight instructors to access Class B airspace.

Common mistakes or incorrect procedures ATC observes from pilots.

Memorable stories or interactions with pilots. A favorite or even a humorous anecdote.

✅  General "dos and don'ts" or common pet peeves observed from pilots

Join us at Holman’s table: enjoy the beautiful views of Saint Paul’s downtown airport, enjoy the delicious food, meet some new people, and become stronger at your craft!

Please register today, as space is limited.
